United Action for Children (UAC) is a charitable non-governmental organisation operating in Cameroon, dedicated to enhancing the lives of vulnerable children, young people and women. From offices in Buitingi village — about 3 km from Buea — and New Layout in Mamfe, we work across rural communities and urban slums.
Our story & heritage
From one counsellor's dream to two schools.
UAC was founded in 1996 by guidance counsellor Mr. Orock Thomas Eyong, out of a deep-seated childhood dream to support needy children. Recognising that the traditional Cameroonian education system often leaves youth unequipped for independence, and responding to rising youth unemployment, he rallied a circle of friends around functional education and employable skills.
Our scope expanded organically to women's empowerment, driven by the understanding that uplifting mothers directly secures a stable, healthy environment for their children.
Today we manage model schools for orphans and vulnerable children in Buea and Mamfe, while pioneering initiatives such as “Youth in Agribusiness” that motivate young people toward sustainable agricultural enterprise.

Milestones
1996
Mr. Orock Thomas Eyong, a guidance counsellor, gathers friends around a childhood dream of supporting needy children.
1998
UAC is officially registered on 3 August under No. 557/G37/014/1/V04/T/T/OAPP, starting as a single-staff initiative.
2002
The first model school opens; over the years more than 40,000 orphans and vulnerable children are reached.
2009
The livelihood programme begins supporting rural farming families with tools, seeds and training.
Today
Model schools in Buea and Mamfe run alongside Youth in Agribusiness, School on Wheels and the AI Community Lab.

Legally registered, openly accountable
UAC Cameroon operates with full legal transparency. Registered in 1998 under Cameroon's 1990 law on Associations (Registration No. 557/G37/014/1/V04/T/T/OAPP), the organisation adheres to national standards of non-profit management — a foundation that makes us a reliable partner for international NGOs, government bodies and private donors.
